Das Buch bzw. Büchlein informiert den Linux Neueinsteiger kompakt und kompetent zu den verschiedenen Distributionen und Anwendungsmöglichkeiten. Brauche ich ein Betriebssystem für einen altersschwachen XP Laptop oder ein Windows ähnliches BS für einen aktuelleren Rechner und alles was es dazwischen noch gibt. Sehr hilfreich für den Anfänger, hätte ich das Büchlein früher gehabt, hätte ich mich vermutlich auch früher für eine Distribution entschieden und nich bis heute gewartet. Allerdings bezieht sich der Autor auf 2017er Distributionen, das aktuelle Ubuntu 18.04 LTS welches einen Quantensprung bedeutet, kommt noch nicht vor, ändert aber nicht viel am Informationsgehalt. Das Büchlein ist tatsächlich sehr dünn, aber man hätte es sicherlich einfach aufblähen können, z. B. mit div. Screenshots und Graphiken ohne einen Informationsvorteil zu bekommen, dafür ist es recht preisgünstig. Wer sich also mit dem Gedanken trägt, sich eine Linux Distri auf den Rechner zu holen und nicht weiss, welche, der spart sich hier den ein oder anderen Foren Thread, wobei man am Ende auch nicht schlauer ist, hier schon.
Der Nutzwert war nicht so hoch wie erhofft. Man bekommt, wenngleich bei der Kindle-Variante für nicht so viel Geld, nur eine grobe Vorstellung von Linux und die Auswahl der Distributionen geboten. Im Grunde handelt es sich nur um den Vorspann und das erste Kapitel eines Buches, welches ich für den Einstieg in Linux bräuchte. Wie es nach Auswahl der Linuxvariante weitergeht wird nicht dargestellt. Sprache und Grammatik würden durch ein (besseres) Lektorat noch gewinnen. Gewisse Vorkenntnisse sollte man mitbringen.
Eine flüssig und leicht lesbare Einführung in die Linuxwelt. Es hat mir auf jeden Fall geholfen, meine Scheu vor diesem Stück Neuland abzubauen und mich bei der Auswahl der für meine Situation erforderlichen Distribution/Umgebung unterstützt.
Das Buch beschreibt zwar im Grossen und Ganzen die Linnux-Welt, aber für einen Anfänger erfordert es meiner Meinung nach doch einige PC-Kenntnisse.
Dieses Buch hilft beim erlernen von Linux eigentlich gar nicht. Vielmehr stellt es eine Hilfe dar, bei der Entscheidung, für welches Linux man sich entscheiden sollte. Absolutes Grundlagenwissen was hier vermittelt wird.
Inhaltlich gut und für den Beginner leicht verständlich. Aber für die bezeichnung Buch fehlen noch einige Seiten. Da ist ja mancher Flyer länger.
